Willkommen am Institut für Bioinformatik an der Universität Münster
Die Bioinformatik beschäftigt sich mit der Forschung, Entwicklung und Anwendung computerbasierter Werkzeuge und Algorithmen um biologische Daten im großen Maßstab verarbeiten zu können. Dies beinhaltet die Ermittlung, Speicherung, Organisation, Analyse und Visualisierung der Daten. Unser Ziel ist die Generierung von neuem biologischem Wissen anhand vorhandener Informationen. In den letzten Jahren wurde die Bioinformatik integraler Bestandteil der Biologie und ist in nahezu allen biomedizinischen Disziplinen zuhause.
Das sind wir - das IoB-Team, das pausenlos arbeitet und bemüht ist, die Bioinformatik weiter voranzutreiben. Die Kooperation mit anderen Arbeitsgruppen in der ganzen Welt bringt neue Ideen und verfeinert bereits vorhandene. Unsere Arbeit ist öffentlich zugänglich, es werden keine Zugangsbeschränkungen auf erstellte Applikationen und Veröffentlichungen gesetzt. Die Institutssprache ist Englisch.
